Office Hours - Consular and Legal Services

Due to high demand for passport and citizenship appointments, increased waiting times are to be expected. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The legal and consular section is open to the public monday through friday except on selected German and American holidays (listed below). All applicants are required to make an appointment. Admission without appointment cannot be granted.

Appointments for passports, visas, citizenship matters and certifications of copies and signatures can be made online under the following link: www.germany.info/nyappointment

Appointments for full notarizations (“Beurkundung”) and other consular services are made on an individual basis only.

Please note that the use of mobile devices may result in reduced functionality or wrong bookings. We therefore recommend the use of desktop computers or laptops for making online appointments.

The Consulate General and the Permanent Mission in the German House endeavor to make it easier for citizens with disabilities to contact the staff within the framework of the structural conditions.

The representations in the German House support citizens with disabilities and would like to make it easier for you to come in person and contact the staff within the framework of the structural conditions, especially when applying for a passport or identity card, a visa and other consular questions.

Handicapped parking

The German House does not have any parking spaces. There are some parking facilities in the immediate vicinity of the German House.

Access to the German House - Service Building of the Permanent Mission and Consulate General/1st Avenue

- Access to the German House and the event rooms is barrier-free.

- The building's airlock and doors have adequate width, but are not barrier-free

and do not have automatic closers or openers.

- There is a handicap accessible restroom in the 1st Avenue entrance area.

- All floors in the German House are accessible by elevators.

The elevator buttons in the main office building include Braille.

- There is no other structural or technical support for blind and visually impaired

people.

Access to the German House - Legal and Consular (RK) Building/ Visa Office/ 49th Street

- Access to the RK section is barrier-free.

- The doors are of sufficient width, but are not barrier-free and do not have

automatic closers or openers.

- All floors of the RK Department are accessible by elevators.

- There is no structural or technical support for blind and visually impaired

people.
