Welcome
“13 Driver's Licenses” Film Screening & Panel/Tech Talks (Dec. 3)
13 Driver's Licenses, © 13DL Films LLC
A special screening of the award-winning documentary, “13 Driver's Licenses,” followed by a panel discussion and tech talks exploring the film’s content and innovative production approaches.
The 13 Driver's Licenses documentary explores the discovery of 13 Jewish driver's licenses confiscated by the Nazis in a small German town in 1938. This significant find led a group of local high school students to investigate the stories behind the names on the licenses, uncovering the fates of these individuals and their families. The students’ research culminated in an emotional reunion with descendants from across the globe, turning a tragic chapter of history into a story of remembrance, reconciliation, and hope.
This event will feature a screening of the award-winning documentary, which has been recognized at over 50 film festivals in 20 countries, earning more than 30 awards. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion and tech talks with members of the film's production team, including faculty from CUNY and industry professionals. The panel will dive into both the historical context of the film and the innovative techniques used in its production.
The screening will take place at the new theater of NYC College of Technology. Attendees will also have an opportunity to engage in discussions on the film’s themes and its relevance in today's context of anti-hate initiatives. The event is free to attend, but RSVPs are required.
We invite educators, students, historians, and community members interested in documentary filmmaking, history, and social justice to attend this special event.
