An evening celebrating Bavarian culture and heritage.

The GTEV Schlierachtaler Stamm, Franklin Square, New York, will hold its 96th annual Edelweiss Ball on Saturday, 7 December 2024, at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant located at 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square NY. Founded in 1928 by Bavarian immigrants from the Schliersee region, the GTEV Schlierachtaler Stamm is one of the oldest and most historic Bavarian Trachtenverein in the New York Metropolitan area. The Edelweiss Ball will offer a complete buffet dinner with German specialties, imported beer, wine, and soda, continuous dancing, door prizes and raffles and, of course, music and traditional Schuhplattler dances. Doors open at 5:30pm and dinner starts at
6:00pm. Music by the Heimatklänge Orchestra, dancing and entertainment, begins at 7:00pm. This includes our 96th performance of the famous “Muhlradl” dance (“Miller's Wheel”), a traditional dance from the Schliersee in Bavaria which describes the miller’s craft of processing grain to the finished product of flour.
