German passports and ID cards contain biometric features. Therefore all German citizens residing in Florida and the Bahamas (only until May 31, 2022) are required to apply in person at the Consulate General in Miami by appointment only!
Important Information for applicants from the Bahamas: Starting June 1, 2022, please contact the German Embassy Kingston.
Passport applications with the Honorary Consul in San Juan (Puerto Rico) for German citizens residing in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are temporarily suspended.
Please book your appointments at the German Consulate General in Miami.

Please read through the requirements carefully and bring all necessary documents to your appointment.
Only complete applications will be processed!
Please check carefully if your last name has changed (for example by marriage) or if your child’s last name still has to be determined.
Applications relating to your name have to be filed BEFORE booking an appointment and filing your passport application.

It is not always possible to obtain passport pictures in walking distance of the German Consulate General that fulfill the necessary requirements. The German Consulate General recommends to plan your visit accordingly.
